All Competitors must be full Members of the DOLPHIN CLUB, with current Subscriptions fully paid, as per Club Rule 13/14.
Dress as per Club Rules.
Team Contact will register and maintain a MINIMUM number of players as required for each League.
- 4 Players for Mixed and Open Fours.
- 4 Players for Ladies and Mens Fours.
- 3 Players for Ladies and Mens Triples.
- 3 Players for Mixed and Open Triples.
- 2 Players for Open Pairs and Aussie Open Pairs.
N.B. Mixed Teams must be of Mixed Players.
One player will act as Contact and be responsible for registering the team and paying the team Registration Fee.
A player can only register for one team in each League and cannot transfer in that League during the Season. Should a team find that it is not possible to field a complete team, then up to two substitutes (one substitute in a Pairs team) will be permitted as follows:-
a) Substitute(s) may play any number of times, for any team but not against their own team.
In an “emergency” a lady/man may substitute. This Rule cannot apply to Ladies Fours Teams or Men’s Fours Teams - [refer to Rule 15 a)] and Mixed Fours Teams - [refer to e) below, AND Rule 15 a].
b) Substitutes will not Skip.
c) The opposing team Skip is to be advised that a/or Substitutes(s) are playing, and the Score Card is to be clearly marked ‘SUB’ against the name(s) of the substitute(s).
d) Skips are responsible for ensuring that names are on the correct side of the Score Card. The name printed first will be the challenger, and his/her team must be shown on the left (Home Team).
e) MIXED TEAMS must contain at least one player of either sex.
f) OPEN TRIPLES/OPEN FOURS/OPEN PAIRS/AUSSIE OPEN PAIRS may consist of either sex.
It is the responsibility of each team’s Contact to ensure that the Green Fees are paid to the Duty Steward before the start of each game. One Skip will collect the Score Card from the Office which must be completed with both teams’ players’ names shown under the correct team name. FIRST NAMED ON THE CARD WILL BE THE CHALLENGER AND WILL SCORE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE CARD (Home Team). After the game both teams’ Skips are to sign the Score Card and the winning Skip is responsible for depositing the Card in the Office, either to the Duty Steward or in the letter-box provided.
All League matches to be of two hours duration. No trial ends. No matches to commence before the scheduled start time. A team arriving late must be ready to play not later than ten minutes from the scheduled starting time, or their opponents can claim the game. Any player arriving late can participate in the match up to two ends after starting time without penalty, providing it is not later than ten minutes after the scheduled start. Defaulters to be responsible for the cost of the rink.
The Jack to be rolled in all matches, but if improperly delivered both the Jack and the Mat to be placed at the opposing Skip’s discretion.
Should the jack leave the confines of the rink, the jack shall be re-spotted on the appropriate side of the rink and play shall continue until the end is completed. If the re-spot is covered by a bowl in play, the jack should be placed on the inside of that bowl, without touching it, and in line with the 'T'.
There will be no ‘threes’ up at the ‘head’ during Fours matches, nor ‘twos’ in Triples. Both Skips must leave the ‘head’ together, and will not visit the ‘head’ after delivery of their own or of the opposing Skip’s bowls. PLAYERS No’s 1, 2, & 3 must stay behind the Mat until the last No. 3 has delivered his last bowl.
Each match is to finish on the completion of the end in play when the time buzzer sounds. An end shall be deemed to commence when the Jack has been delivered correctly from the Mat and centred BEFORE the time buzzer sounds.
League matches should be played and paid for on the day scheduled.
Matches can only be re-arranged through inability to attend owing to a special bowling occasion such as an A.G.M., Annual Dinner or National Competition representing the Dolphin I.B.C. (County Matches/Competitions DO NOT qualify.)
Rinks must be cancelled at least 4 days before the date of the original fixture. The re-arranged fixture must be played within 21 days of the original scheduled date, or by arrangement with the League Secretary.
It will be the responsibility of the team Contact to inform their opponents, the League Secretary and the Club Office of the intention to cancel the rink and of the re-arrangement. Re-arrangement is a mutual responsibility.
Teams failing to re-arrange the fixture will each be responsible for paying their own Rink Fees, and where appropriate, sponsored fees, and the match will then be declared void.
Through the inability of team(s) to attend owing to severe weather conditions or other exceptional circumstances - insufficient number of players will not be accepted (See Rule 6 - Substitutes) -, the fixture will be considered “postponed”. The re-arranged fixture must be played within 21 days of the original schedule date, or as directed by the League Secretary.
It will be the responsibility of the team Contact to inform their opponents, the League Secretary and the Club Office of their intention to cancel the rink and of the re-arrangement.
Re-arrangement is a mutual responsibility. Teams failing to re-arrange the fixture will each be responsible for paying their own rink fees and the match will then be declared void.
Teams unable to field a team or obtain a substitute player shall pay a Full Green Fee and proceed as follows:-
a) When only three players of a Fours Team be present for a match, the full team will play two bowls each. In the defaulting team, the No.1 and No.2 will play three bowls each and the Skip two bowls, and will forfeit a quarter of their score; any fraction over will count as one shot.
b) Two players in a Triples Team is not permitted. When only two players of a Triples Team be present, the full team will be awarded the game, ten shots and two points. The defaulting team shall pay the full Green Fee.
A team unable to attend for any reason and wishing to concede the match to their opponents, must inform their opponents, the appropriate League Secretary and the Duty Steward at least 48 hours before the date of the match; this enables the rink to be re-let for Open Play. The team conceding will be responsible for paying their Green Fee and will be invoiced. Their opponents will be awarded ten shots and two points.
Where a team fails to turn up for a fixture, ten shots and two points will be awarded to their opponents provided they are present and ready to play. The scorecard must be completed with the names of the players present and signed by the Skip. The League Secretary is to be informed. TEAMS FAILING TO APPEAR FOR A FIXTURE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THEIR OWN AND THEIR OPPONENTS GREEN FEES, AND WILL BE INVOICED. The rink concerned will then become available for Open Play.
Any team failing to fulfil its fixtures for three consecutive weeks may be withdrawn from the League. The shots and points gained by teams who have already played defaulting teams will be deducted. For the last four weeks of the season it is not permitted to concede games as there is adequate rink space for games to be re-arranged. Any team conceding within the last four weeks will be liable for the full rink fees.
Trophies/Money will be awarded at the end of the bowling season to Winners and Runners-up.
