Club Competition Rules
Subject to E.I.B.A. Rules as appropriate unless otherwise stated.
All Competitors must be full Members of the DOLPHIN CLUB, with current Subscriptions fully paid, as per Club Rule 13/14.
Dress as per Club Rules.
(a) Rinks are pre-determined and all games are to be played on the designated dates.
GAMES MAY BE RE-ARRANGED BY THE COMPETITIORS BUT MUST BE PLAYED ON OR BEFORE THE DUE DATE.
SUBSTITUTES MAY BE USED AS PER RULE 14
THE COMPETITION SECRETARY MUST BE NOTIFIED.
(b) A player or team who defaults any game will be responsible for their own and their opponents green fees.
All Competition fees will be as displayed.
(a) In all Singles matches, the first named Competitor will be responsible for providing a Marker, who must be a Club Member AND WEAR CLUB DRESS.
(b) Singles Matches will be first to 21 shots with two trial ends of four bowls each way.
(a) Pairs Matches (of 21 ends), Triples Matches (of 18 ends) and Fours Matches (of 21 ends) will be full games with two trial ends of two bowls each way.
(b) Over 60’s Competitions: Singles Matches will be first to 21 shots with two trial ends of four bowls each way. All other matches will be maximum 15 ends with two trial ends of two bowls each way.
If the Jack is improperly delivered, the Jack is to be re-delivered by the opposing player - once only; if still not correct, then Jack to be placed on the 2 metre T and the mat may be moved.
In Singles Competitions a player may visit the “head” after the second bowl has been delivered.
All games must be completed within the time allocated.
Scorecards must be correctly made out showing the NAMES OF ALL COMPETITORS and the Competition being played. In the case of Singles, both players are to sign the card; in all other matches, cards to be signed by both Skips. On completion of the game, the Scorecards are to be deposited into the Office, either to the Duty Steward or through the letter box provided.
A team arriving late must be ready to play not later than 15 minutes from the scheduled starting time or their opponents can claim the game. No game may commence if either team is incomplete.
In the event of a team/singles player failing to arrive to play before its scheduled time, that team/singles player will be responsible for HIS/HER GREEN FEES. A Score Card must be originated by the team present, signed and deposited into the Office, either to the Duty Steward or through the letter box provided.
The players that play in the first match for any team shall constitute “the team” and subsequently any player taking the place of any member of that “team” shall be a substitute. Only the player who has already acted as a substitute in a team game may play for that team as a substitute in any subsequent tie.
(a) SINGLES No substitutes allowed.
(b) PAIRS, TRIPLES, MIXED PAIRS One player only may be used as a substitute at any time providing he/she has not already played in the Competition concerned and may play in any position except as a Skip.
(c) MIXED FOURS ONLY The four shall consist of 2 men and 2 women who should normally play together throughout the Competition. One man and/or one woman may as substitutes at any time to maintain the composition of the team, providing that they have not already played in the Competition. They may play in any position except as a Skip.
(d) MENS/LADIES FOUR Two substitutes may be used at any time providing he/she has not played in any other team in the Competition. They may play in any position except as a Skip.
(e) A substitute will only be allowed in a Final due to bereavement or illness.
These will be played on the weekend displayed in the Handbook. Any possible deviation will be subject to agreement by the Competition Committee and their decision will be final. Substitutes to be allowed as in 14 above.
All disputes to be dealt with by the Competitions Committee. The Competitions Committee will consist of Men and Ladies Competition Secretaries and three Committee members.
