Club news October 12th 2024
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR – KEN JOY
Due to the ever-increasing workload of the club manager and admin staff, we have been looking for a suitable part-time Business Administrator to assist with the workload relating to the business side of the club.
I am absolutely delighted to announce we have appointed a person we all know and respect in Ken Joy. He will take up his new role on Monday 11thNovember 2024.
The Board members and I are all delighted to have Ken working for the club again, and I know Ken is absolutely thrilled to be back.
Perry Martin, our manager will continue to focus on managing the club in its entirety, including all playing issues, both internally and externally, staffing, finances, overseeing the bar, restaurant and our new club shop. Ken will concentrate on the business side of the club dealing with day-to-day finances and all contractual issues surrounding the maintenance both internally and externally.
I know Ken and Perry are looking forward to working together to form a partnership which we hope will last for years to come. Eve and Marie will continue with their roles, which will be unaffected by the introduction of the new Business Administrator.
I am sure we all welcome Ken’s return to the club, which I know will bring stability within the club for years to come.
I must stress Ken’s role is purely administration on a part-time basis and all managerial issues should be directed to Perry who will continue to fulfil this role moving forward.
CLUB SHOP – OPENING FRIDAY 18thOCTOBER 2024
It is nearly 12 months since we had a shop within the club, negotiations with a nearby business to run it unfortunately fell through so the Board have decided to run it ourselves.
After a lot of hard work and planning, I can announce the shop will open at 10am on Friday 18th October 2024. A full range of bowls equipment and attire will be stocked from all the leading manufacturers including Drakes Pride, Henselite, Taylors and others.
The shop will not be "online" but will serve all Dolphin members, including all other indoor and outdoor bowlers both locally and nationally. Please spread the word that we are now open.
The full opening times are still to be fully confirmed but will be open every weekday between 10am and 2pm. We will also open periodically in the evenings and weekends. Opening times will be displayed in reception.
Our manager, Perry Martin, will be overseeing the running of the shop and will have his office within it. CCTV will be installed within the shop for security reasons.
The nearby male and female toilets will act as changing facilities.
I am delighted to say the board members have decided to offer all Dolphin members a 5% discount on all items in the shop apart from sets of bowls.
All profits from the shop will be re-invested back into the club, so can I please ask all members to support this facility.
NEW BOARD MEMBER - TOM WARNER
I am delighted to announce that Tom Warner has agreed to be co-opted onto the Board with immediate effect. By trade, Tom is a qualified accountant and his experience of similar Board roles within his previous clubs will prove invaluable moving forward.
His main role within the board will be assisting David Ridley with the ever increasing financial management of the club and assisting Perry with sponsors and new sponsorship initiatives.
Tom’s youthful experience and knowledge of bowls is the most welcome addition to the Board.
