The Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club has a Junior Section which accepts children between the ages of 8 to 18. Qualified coaches are present and give appropriate instruction on Saturday mornings from 09.30 to 11.30; this is known as “The Saturday Junior Club”. Children have the first 4 Saturdays free of charge after which, if they wish to continue, they are charged £1.50 for each 2 hour session (Annual Subscription is £5). The Saturday Junior Club is open for the Winter Period only (end of September to early April); an average attendance on Saturday mornings is 21 children. Each child is entered for the Singles and Pairs competitions to get them used to competitive play. Matches are also arranged against other Clubs in Dorset and Devon.
Children have the option of joining the Junior Section from the age of 10 and this gives the same rights as adult members; the usual Child Protection Rules apply. The charge for Junior Membership is a Joining Fee of £50, which can be paid over 4 years, plus £10 Annual Subscription. Once a child reaches the age of 18 they automatically become an adult member.
Our Open Days have shown that some parents, grandparents and responsible adults, who have brought youngsters along, have also signed up for coaching. Anyone interested in bringing a Junior along and needing information should contact Penny Cresswell on 01202 690182.
